Often, this is the first question we are asked in a meeting with a potential client.  This is a quick and easy way to determine the approximate price a builder will charge.  However, this is an inadequate way in evaluating what will probably be the single biggest investment your family will ever make.  Being a true custom builder, we price each home separately based on the site restrictions and based on our knowledge of what the clients envision for their dream home.  For example, we go through a detailed checklist that covers everything from septic and well allowances to a realistic appliance allowance that reflects what the customer is likely to spend.  In this way, the more knowledge gained in the estimating stages may produce a home that costs more per square foot than another contractor, but the price is much more reflective of the true needs and desires of the client.
